Beyond Blue is a harmony singing group for teens and twenties that was formed in February 2009 from the older members of SL Club. We meet on Friday evenings in term time from 7:30 – 9:00 pm. in the Nicholls Room of St Leonard’s Church,  Lexden, on the west side of Colchester.

The aim of the group is to provide opportunities for singing a wide range of musical styles, old and contemporary, accompanied by piano, orchestral instruments, or unaccompanied. We sing pieces arranged for soprano, alto, tenor and bass, or sometimes soprano, alto and baritone. To date we have performed works by:

  • Bob Chilcott
  • John Rutter
  • Vaughan Williams
  • Karl Jenkins
  • Lennon / McCartney
  • Paul Simon
  • John Denver
  • Sting
  • Stainer
  • Alan Bullard
  • Elton John
  • Joe Cowie – our own accompanist
    . . . and many more

St Leonard’s Church Lexden is fully licenced for all forms of music reproduction.

The group perform regularly at monthly services at St Leonard’s Church, and also give concerts, record CDs and sing at occasional events in the community of Lexden and Colchester.

We are always looking to recruit new members for all voice parts. If you are interested in joining the group please contact Sally by clicking here.
